WHY DO I LOOK SO MISERABLE/ANGRY WHEN I’M NOT?
You’re perfectly happy. Then you catch your reflection when your face is resting and think, Why do I look so bloody miserable?
It doesn’t mean you need to smile more. Your face has simply changed.
Over time, the cheeks can lose some of their fullness and support, the corners of the mouth can begin to turn down and the lower face can start to look heavier. Put those changes together and a completely neutral expression can sometimes look tired, stern, sad or even a bit cross.

IT DEPENDS ON WHY YOUR FACE LOOKS THAT WAY.
Two people can have exactly the same complaint for completely different reasons. I’d rather work out what’s causing yours than automatically put filler where you happen to see the problem.
Sometimes restoring a little support higher in the face makes the biggest difference. Sometimes the changes are mainly around the mouth or lower face. Sometimes improving the quality and firmness of the skin is more appropriate. And sometimes the best advice is to leave things alone.
WHAT MIGHT HELP?
CHEEKS
If loss of support through the cheeks is contributing to the change, carefully placed filler can restore some of that support without making the face look obviously fuller.
LOWER-FACE FILLER
Where changes around the mouth or jawline are contributing to a downturned or heavier appearance, carefully placed filler may help soften and rebalance the area. That doesn’t mean simply filling whichever line you can see.
FACIAL BALANCING
If several small changes are working together, looking at the face as a whole can make more sense than treating one feature in isolation.
PLINEST
If changes in skin quality are contributing to the overall appearance, polynucleotides may help improve skin quality, hydration and texture gradually.
AESPLLA
When the skin is becoming thinner, less firm or less supported, AesPLLA may be an option for gradually improving collagen, firmness and support rather than creating an immediately filled look.
MICRONEEDLING
Where texture, fine lines and general skin quality are part of the concern, microneedling can encourage the skin’s natural repair response and collagen production.
WHAT ARE WE ACTUALLY TRYING TO CHANGE?
The aim isn’t to change your expression or make you look permanently cheerful. It’s simply to soften the changes that may be making your resting face look more unhappy than you feel.
Does your face look different from how you feel?
Tell me what you’re noticing. We can look at the changes behind your resting expression, discuss what might help and whether leaving things alone is the better option.
